General Mills Reduces Sugar in it's Cereal

General Mills is excited to share some great news for cereal lovers. This week they announced a commitment to further reduce sugar in cereals advertised to kids under 12 to single digit grams of sugar per serving. The company has already been reducing sugar in cereals while increasing key nutrients, such as calcium and vitamin D, and providing whole grain.

That's pretty good info right? Most of us are all trying to reduce the sugar in our kids diets and if they are eating cereal every morning reduced sugar cereal is one way that you could help accomplish that goal.

General Mills provided me with these facts to pass on to you, I hope you find them interesting:

Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children’s diets.

Other cereal benefits:
* Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children’s diets.
* Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child’s diet today.
* More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.

Studies also demonstrate the benefits of eating breakfast. A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office.

Febreze Home Collection Review and $20 Walmart Giftcard Giveaway

A few weeks ago My Blog Spark contacted me and asked if I was interested in trying the Febreze Home Collection. I thought- "how fun". So then mail came a few days later and this huge bos arrived with Room Spray, a big Soy Candle, a reed difuser and the lovely Flameless Luminary (with refils in mulitple scents).

My first thought was the they were very nice and looked like anything you might buy at a department store (pretty cool for something you can pick up at Wal-Mart). The scents were nice, too. Probalbly my favorite were the cranberry pear and pomegranate mango. But I lok "food" scents- I always pick lotion that makes me smell like pie or something over anyting floral. But really they are smelled good.

The prettiest of the bunch is the Flameless Luminary. It have a kind of orietal look to it and the nice thing is if you kid knocks it over- nothing happens because there is no flame. The only downside is the scent doesn't last that long. One package it says that it lasts around 1 week and really, I'm sure I would forget to chang it. But all in all it's a good idea and is quite attractive.

There are 4 scents you can choose from for all of the products: cranberry pear, pomegranate mango, citrus green tea and willow blossom.
